Joan Myers

Joan Amelia Myers is a multi-talented individual. She is a gospel singer, songwriter and a dynamic performer.  However, at the center of Joan's heart and her life, is her love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Joan is a woman with a passion for music and a mission to win souls for Christ.

She is the sixth of eight children born to Reverend Egbert and Mrs. Myers. Her musical development began in Hanover, Jamaica. Under the tutelage her mother, Joan and her siblings “The Myers" sang as family group in her church. She attended Bethel All-Age School where she was a member of the school's performing group. While at Herbert Morrison Comprehensive High School she played the clarinet band and sang on the school's choir. She was also an active member of the Inter School Christian Fellowship Club. Myers is a graduate of the Durham Business College with a Diploma in Accounting. She was awarded the Noel Hylton Challenge Cup for Accounting.

Joan Myers began singing professionally in 1982 as member of her church choir and in 1986 she was invited to join the gospel group "The Love Singers." She toured with the group extensively, laying a foundation for her musical career locally.

In 1991 she was invited to join the Caribbean's most successful gospel group 'The Grace Thrillers.'  With the group she recorded two albums-: 'Can't even Walk' and Make us One'. She has toured the Caribbean, Canada, the British Virgin Island, and the United States and has shared stage with Shirley Caesar, The Talley's, Rev. FC Barnes, Andre Crouch, Jessie Dixon, Benjy Myaz and Hopeton Lewis, just to name a few.

Recognizing her talent, she was encouraged by Reggae Legend Freddie McGregor and her brother Benjy Myaz who is also her producer to pursue a solo singing career.  In 2000 Joan she recorded her first CD "Wanna Be Urs" at Freddie McGregor's his Big Ship Studio.

Joan has an engaging personality that attracts people to her. She is self- assured in her unshakable faith and the source of her life, Jesus Christ. She believes that God has not called her to a "hall of fame", but as a strong woman to make Him famous amongst the feeble.  She desires to be who God wants her to be and make herself available to be used by Him. Her ambition is to raise the local gospel music to higher level.

Myers has achieved several milestones as a solo artist and has performed at several important events in the Caribbean and American community including: The First Annual Caribbean Gospel Music Awards, New York, Reception for the Jamaica's Opposition Party leader, Mr. Edward Seaga, Harvard University Divinity School with Judy Mowatt and Special guest performer for Jamaica's Governor General, Sir Howard Cook charity    Hands-Across-Jamaica to name a few.
